Picsel Case Study | Print |

During a 5 month period from June to November 2004, Picsel employed Paul Ovington as one of two interim Software Project Managers responsible for strategic customer developments and releases.

During this contract period Picsel was undergoing rapid change, both in terms of growth and the enhancement of project management processes. Paul was able to use his considerable experience in hi-tech project management to facilitate these changes, while significantly improving customer satisfaction with both delivery schedule and quality. A key achievement for Picsel was its attainment of ISO9001 certification, which was made possible by demonstrating a well ordered project management system on one of Paul’s assigned projects, the Motorola MPX220.

Customer projects at Picsel are very dynamic and require a high degree of responsiveness, balanced by an ordered approach to project change management. The work demands the detailed coordination of development engineers and continuous liaison with Marketing, Test and Quality departments. Interim deliveries to customers are required on a regular basis.

"OXMS had a positive impact on Picsel’s business and was able to help us through a difficult, but exciting growth phase".

Managing on average 8 simultaneous projects, Paul was able to harmonise and coordinate development operations. OXMS were primarily responsible for all Motorola releases, but also covered projects for Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung, and NEC. Several of these products achieved a qualified status and shipped to market.
